Rodney
is, to say the least, a bit of a Corsair aficionado - he's built a fair few of
the old Revell models (see his Gallery Pages here)
and has been working on a resin conversion for the F2G for some time.
Here,
Rodney concentrates on errors he has found with the Trumpeter F4U-1D kit and
makes a comparison with parts from his forthcoming sets as well as photo's of
the real thing. He's managed to spot a few errors missed in other reviews -
all easy fixes, but I'm eager to get hold of Rodney's detail/conversion parts!
Over
to Rodney:
Some
of the parts are a big disappointment. I bought the F4U-1D kit, so I
could compare their parts
to the one I have made for my F2G conversion, using the Revell F4U-1A kit.

Here is what I have found out so far. The design of the wheel well is
wrong, especially the front door. I have dozens of Corsair photos
showing the front of the plane. Not one shows a door like Trumpeter
made. My photos consist of the F4U-1 to the F2G. This is as far as
I have got with the kit. More updates in a week or so.
I
have a few more parts to make, then I'm done. I want to post on ARC/LSP,
and Skywriters, when the conversion kit is ready. I've got over a 100
parts. My friends Bill & Chris are going to market the kit, in parts
and/or whole. Many parts will fit any Corsair; (EG: flaps, gears, tail
wheel, 3 blade prop, etc.).
Rodney.
