Well, what can I say...

I've used a few photo-etched detail sets in my time, some simple, some extremely complex, but this one takes the biscuit for quality and 'out of the packet' result!

The set is photo-etched on a rubber backing, a method that results in separate individual items, neatly formed and with no attachments to an outer frame, as is common with other manufacturers. Removal of the items is simply achieved by using a suitable thinner to dissolve the laquer that holds the individual items in place on the rubber backing.

Components include everything you'll need to dress up the Revell cockpit, with the addition of a set of flap actuators for those wanting to perform surgery on the wings and a number of undercarriage and other details - the scans show the content of the set.

In addition, a unique (in my experience) feature of this set is the pre applied 'black' finish which is clearly shown in the scans below - no paint or detail has been added, the scans show the components as supplied!

Close of of that gorgeous instrument panel! This is exactly as
supplied with the set - no painting or detailing added!!!

I have not had a chance yet to apply these components to the Revell P47 kit, so I can't yet comment on the fit of parts, but comparison with photographs of the real subject are very favourable.

This set follows a similar format to the P47 set, with the components provided on a flexible rubber backing, except that there is no pre-colouring of the components - they have a natural brass finish. As a result, the panel requires the addition of instruments and these are provided in the form of an instrument film, printed black on a clear substrate - see scan.

The set is pretty comprehensive in that it also provides undercarriage and bomb components - see scan below. Note the finesse of the instrument panels and belt buckles in particular...

In a similar format to the previous two sets, this is a 'generic' set for the Spit, in that it can be used as a basis for most marks. Not a lot more to say really - more stunning work from Fred!

What can I say - once again, excellent!

These sets are some of the best etched detail sets we have seen - order a set for your next P47 or 109 project - you will not regret it!
