A6M5 Zero Real Sound Action Set

II - Accessories

for a look at the kit

Someone
recently asked what accessories are available for the Tamiya Zero - whilst not
exhaustive, the items above are the ones I've collected over the past twelve
months in order to build mine. I have two Zero's to build, one standard and one
with the electronic goodies - only a few of the details list here will be used
on the latter as many of the details (particularly in the cockpit) will not be
seen on the finished model. I'll leave the serious detail for the static model -
and I'm itching to use trainer orange on that one!
Eduard
32 018 A6M5 Zero
The
first item is the original set released in 1995 by Eduard for the old Hasegawa
kit. Whilst superceded by the more recent offerings, it does offer a number of
useful parts if you have a set 'on stock'.

Working
on the theory that pictures speak a thousand words the content of the set is
shown above - additionally there is an acetate 'instrument faces' sheet to be
sandwiched behind the main panel.

32 064 A6M5 Zero Interior
Many
fine additions to the already excellent Tamiya interior provided here -
including a number of cables and wires - there are times when I thing Photo Etch
is not the best medium for certain three dimensional shapes such as these, but
I'm reliably informed that painting over the surface with PVA glue adds a
suitably 'round' surface ready for paint. Needles to say, as I'm using the pilot
figure in the 'Action' Zero there are only a few parts from this set that I'll
be using on this...

Flap and Undercarriage details here:

Eduard
32 066 A6M5 Zero Engine
The
engine of the Tamiya kit, although and excellent piece of moulding, does lack
many details found on the original and this set will dress it up nicely!

Eduard
32 068 Seatbelts IJN (Color Etch)
Wow
- what can I say - what you see in the picture is exactly what you get in the
bag - superb!

Moskit
32-08 Mitsubishi A6M(5-8) Hollow Exhausts
Just
when you though model accessories had reached new heights - Moskit take it one
step further with a superb set of hollow metal exhausts for the Zero - the metal
is so thin and the detail (weld seams etc..) so breathtaking that I'm almost
speechless! Needless to say, I bought two sets!

Eagle
Strike 32018 Mitsubishi Zero Sen
One
comment that appears regularly in connection with the Tamiya zero is the decals
- whilst of excellent quality - they do appear to be a little thick - and we
don't want to cover up all that superb surface detail!
Released
in 1999, this set provides interesting markings for three Type 52s and one Type
52c and are easily up to Eagle Strike's normally high standards.

In
the UK, these items are all available from
Hannants
- elsewhere you will need to check for availability.
And,
don't forget, tell 'em you read about it here! ;-)
