We are pleased to announce that we have just
taken delivery of a set of decals from Czech company TallyHo!. So far they
only have the one decal sheet in our beloved scale but this is a welcome
addition in its self. The subject of this well presented sheet ( actually Two
sheets) is the JU-87.
The front cover of the colour instructions
has a nice little drawn picture of a Ju87 and lists the following options;
Ju87 R-2 Trop T6+CP "SNAKE", Libya
1941
Ju87 B-2 T6+IN Libya 1941
Ju87 R-2 A5+HH Bulgaria 1941
Ju87 R-2 239 Squadrilia, 97 Gruppo, Italy
1941
All four of these aircraft can be modelled
from this set. Two are naturally in the desert camouflage with the other two
being the regular European scheme. The most eye catching of them all is the
Libyan campaign aircraft with a huge snake in white and red stretching along
the fuselage on both sides. The detailed instructions are printed in colour
and give good placement details and clear colour side and plan views. A useful
colour chart with various colour matches is also included on the back page
along with several good references to help with research.

The Decals themselves are very well printed
and commendably thin with the black and white markings being on a separate
sheet to the main colour markings. This sheet included all necessary insignia
for the Luftwaffe and Italian machines (this covers the Swastikas which are
made from several pieces).

The other sheet in this set has all of the
colour and has all of the necessary stencils for the airframe. With the large
snake it has been necessary, and I think wise, to provide it as two parts as
this would be an extremely long and easily damaged decal otherwise.

The carrier film is very thin and very
closely printed to the images. Some of the red printing on our sample was a
little out of register but this actually gives the impression of them being
sprayed on the model. All of the stencils are readable and look great even the
smallest ones are legible. The yellow Letter C in the serial on the snake
machine appears to be very translucent but it would not be beyond the realms
of the average modeller to mask and spray a patch to cover this if you wished.
I have no hesitation in recommending this
sheet to any modeller who wants to do a Ju87 in this scale. Even if you do not
do Ju87 I firmly believe that the sheet would be of use to any Luftwaffe
modeller who wants to do any other WW2 aircraft, the stencils alone are bound
to be of use.
Another welcome addition to the ever growing
band of 1/32 scale decals. I only hope that Vladimir Marenčák, the man
behind Tally Ho, will continue to expand his 1/32 scale range.
