Breaking news 2nd January 2006 ...

Well - already 2006 is looking to be another bumper year - have you heard about...

New company - CMR (Cleveland Model Resins - http://www.clevelandmodelresins.co.uk/) have announced a forthcoming Tornado F3 conversion for the superb Revell Tornado kits and the photos we've seen look very good.

The Tornado F.Mk.3 conversion set includes 'missile troughs' incorporated primarily in the new forward fuselage halves and carried through into the new replacement panel for the underbelly of the rear fuselage moulding. The troughs are detailed and include ejector details etc. Chaff dispensers -  2 AN/ALE-39 flare/chaff dispensers will be included in the set.

In addition, they already have some very useful additions to your 1:32 Phantoms in the form of resin intake covers - a really useful alternative to trying to 'fix' the intakes on the Tamiya and Revell kits - and a nice addition of colour! Highly Recommended!

Cutting Edge - some BIG news from them... They've just released a resin conversion for the F-105B (to convert the Trumpeter F-105D) and a superb looking set of decals for the USAF Thunderbirds display team. Take a look at the Meteor Productions website for details.

Not only that - but they've announced a forthcoming conversion for the Tamiya F-4J to make the British F-4K/M - I can't wait! Oh - and a super looking set of decals to go with it! For more info take a look at the article over on ARC

And finally - apologies to Wingz for the delay in posting (they notified us early last year!) but they have released a very useful accessory in the shape of a Luftwaffe Service cart and a Luftwaffe Starter Cart.

Breaking news 1st January 2006 ...

Hmmm... So it's been over a year - let's see if we can fix that!

Latest from Revell Germany - another glider, the LS8A and a Hunter F-6 with Dutch, Belgian and RAF decals!

Plane LS8a Glider  - August - 13,49

Hawker Hunter F.6 (NL/B/GB) - July - 29,99 €

Breaking news 26th September 2004 ...

OK - it's been a while, but keeping up with developments out there is getting difficult - there is just *so* much going on!

Tamiya First off, Tamiya's top secret new tool 1:32 F-16CJ kit has broken cover in recent weeks - with a scheduled release date of November 2004 in Japan. For those that can't wait to see it, here are a few tasters:

Trumpeter The Flanker kit is now generally available and the Grumman Avengers are next on the list for December/January release. No update as yet on the F-100, A-7 Corsair, or AV-8B Harrier kits yet - more news as we have it.

Azur Their new 1:32 Polikarpov Type 10 is starting to hit the shops - review as soon as we can get hold of one!

Breaking news 11th January 2004 ...

Over to Roy Caunce of RC Resins with some good news for 'Thud' fans:

Just some information as to where I am at, I now have a website up and running www.rcresins.co.uk which has new information regarding the forthcoming F-105 products, the next set out are the Wheels RC32003 which are being cast now, I am hoping to pick the first batch up on the 11th of Jan, these will be £9.99.

The Nose Cone RC32004 will follow shortly, the master is done. I had intended to stop with the F-105 parts there but due to numerous requests I am expanding the range with an Early "D" backdate set and corrected Canopies, a pair of Fuselage Plugs to aid removal of the ECM pods from the fuselage of the G kit, to enable an F to be made, maybe even a boarding ladder.

This should keep me busy for a while, but I am hoping to follow on with some A-10 parts (which have not been done by anyone else!!) for the Trumpeter kit again.

Roy

More info on RC's current sets can be found here and a review of the Trumpeter kits here.

Academy

Have listed a new tool 1:32 F-16C for release Christmas 2004 and expect a re-box of their superlative F-18C Hornet with 'Gulf' markings.

Breaking news 1st September 2003...

Latest news on Fisher models forthcoming Grumman Panther kit!

Over to Paul Fisher:

Hi Guys, Sorry to have kept you waiting, i attach some pics of my new Panther kit.. these are the first resin shots, I am awaiting the proofs of the photo etch set for the cockpit and the decal art. Thought it would be a good idea to let folks know we'll be ready to ship well before the holiday season.

I am not yet certain of the final retail price, but it will be in the $135 to 150 range .Wish I could bring it off for less but if i am to sell to shops I have to make room in the price. I have spent a lot of effort making the model as builder friendly as can be. It will have clear resin canopies as well as a vac set, and the entire weapons /pylons assortment as in the picture will be standard equipment .Decals will cover 3 planes, and yes, I am back fitting the masters now into a dash 2 Panther, and also planning the Cougars for early next year.

I hope my reputation for excellent resin kits in the race car world will help pave the way for this return to the world of aircraft, I have a great love for planes of the 1950's so that is what I plan to concentrate on though a 1/32 Treibfluegel is tempting. Did one in resin in 1/72 back about 20 years ago and it was fun.

Fisher Models F9F-5 Panther

Courtesy of Arance over on the Hyperscale forum, we have news of a super project being worked on by Fisher Model and Pattern - a 1:32 Grumman Panther!

Over to Arance:

Here are some pics of the forthcoming F9F-5 from Fisher Model & Pattern (http://www.fishermodels.com). Those of you who dabble in car models should be well aware of this manufacturer. Due in October, the kit is in resin with PE and white metal details, decals by one of the two major So Cal players. Price is TBD, but you can take a WAG based on his car models. The 1/32 X-15 is the most likely follow up to the Panther but that might change. If the Panther is successful, look for more early US jets (among those under consideration are F-80, F-84G and F, Banshee, Cougar).

Please make any enquiries to Fisher Model & Pattern at the web address above. He does not have any info on these models on the site at this time, but he would like to get an idea of how many are interested. The Panther is a definite go, it will go into production, but he'd like to get an early idea of the general interest level to see if it's worth his while to proceed with the next project.

This deserves everyone's support - more news as we have it!

Breaking news 18th November 2002...

Trumpeter 2003/2004

Courtesy of a posting by Paul Cotcher over on Hyperscale, we have some interesting news regarding Trumpeters 2003/2004 releases.

So, in addition to the 2002/2003 goodies including F105s and SU27, it looks as though Trumpeter are planning the following releases in 1:32:

TRP2225 F4F-3 Wildcat
TRP2226 Fw190D-9
TRP2227 Lockheed P-38L-5/LO Lightning
TRP2228 Curtiss P-40B Warhawk
TRP2229 McDonnell Douglas/British Aerospace AV-8B Harrier
TRP2230 Mikoyan-Guerevich MiG-3
TRP2231 LTV A-7E Corsair II
TRP2232 North American F-100D Super Sabre
TRP2233 Grumman TBF-1 Avenger

Some amazing subjects that we never thought would see light of day in our favourite scale - they are all good subjects, but my favourite has to be the MiG3! Here's hoping!

The Mil 4 is due end Nov/beginning December and the F105s are now due in March - Oh boy...  that'll be at least one of each please!  ;-)

Stevens International, the North American importers for Trumpeter kits, have published a complete list on their website.

MDC

Firstly, they now have the majority of ID Models master patterns. MDC hope to make the models from these available in the near future, giving the 1/32 scale enthusiast a range of options - including:

ID PLUS
Vac-form main components with resin details (engine, cockpit and undercarriage)

ID VACS
Depending on demand, other subjects will be made available, and these may include resin wheel and props. Because the economics of short runs on larger aircraft would make the cost prohibitive, a number of advance orders will be needed.

All subjects will have upgraded canopy

In addition they will be producing some complete resin kits, the first subject will be the Tempest

MDC are continuing their support for the scale with the following new releases - the standard of detail and qulity of cast are second to none - I recently used the 109 G6 cockpit and really enjoyed the experience!

We were shown some of the new releases at the IPMS UK Nationals:

Breaking news 11th November 2002...

We have several news items to report this evening following the IPMS UK Nationals over the weekend:

1:35 Westland Lynx

Accurate Armour had the masters on display for the first of what is hoped to be a number of versions of this popular military helicopter. Release will be at least 6 months away - with a British Army Gulf version being the first. Quality looks absolutely superb and they are getting a lot of official support from Westland Helicopters, so it should be accurate. Pictures below:

Breaking news 13th October 2002...

It's been too long since the last news, I know, but here are the latest bits of news and rumours we have - please bear in mind that some of this is unconfirmed, so please check with manufacturers/suppliers regarding availability.

We should have some more news shortly, so watch this space...

If you are a manufacturer and have some news, please let us know.

Pegasus Hobbies

Expected by next Spring is a high quality 1/32 injection moulded Spirit of St. Louis from a new company to us called Pegasus Hobbies. We believe the retail price should be under $35.00. Apparently the kit's designer is Dale Caldwell - the man behind Accurate Miniatures TBM/TBF and SBD kit design, so quality should be excellent! For a sneak preview, take a look here! It looks stunning!

AJP

A short run resin model of the French Caudron 714 C1is expected from  AJP in the near future.

Azur

Whilst  on a French theme, the Sept 2002 issue of Replic Magazine lists a Dewotine D 520 from AZUR.

MDC

Meanwhile that high quality resin accessory producer from the UK, MDC, are to increase their growing range of 1:32 subjects with the following new releases at the IPMS (UK) National Championships in November:

Messerschmitt 109 G2/G4 cockpit set (will also include optional parts to make the G2 trop and the G4 trop cockpits)

Messerschmitt 109 G6/10/14 treaded wheels with corrected hub

Messerschmitt 109 G6/10/14 smooth wheels with corrected hub

Messerschmitt 109 F-G corrected spinner

Messerschmitt 109 G canopy detail set (for the 3 parts canopy)

Messerschmitt 109 G canopy detail set (for the Erla Haube canopy)

There will hopefully also be a 109 G4 Tropical filter None of these items can be ordered yet, but I can vouch for the excellent quality of their products.

Sanger Engineering

Sanger Engineering have two possible 1:32 subjects listed on their website - a McDonnell Demon and a Grumman Tiger.

Trumpeter

Trumpeter Models from China have been going from strength to strength over the last year with release of the excellent MiG19 and MiG 21 ranges of kits. They have announced the 1:35 Mil Mi 4A for release this month.

Scratchbuilders

Scratchbuilders have ceased producing their excellent range of 1:32 resin kits - a great pity. Forrest Cox, the man behind Scratchbuilders has posted a letter to customers here. We wish Forrest all the best for the future and would like to thank him for making some unusual subjects available to us. I regret not ordering the Ki44 and Defiant kits now...

Planet

Following their Bucker 133 and 181 kits, the Bucker Bu 131 Jungmann should be available in the near future.

Battle Axe

As a follow on to their Fokker D.VII kit reviewed here, this manufacturer have announced a Fokker E.III for release in the near future.

AML Hobby

The Hannants website lists a 1:32 Heinkel He 162 Salamander here for future release - should be a popular model!
