About
Welcome to the home of the
32nd SIG!
This Special Interest Group has
been established in order to meet the following aims:
"To globally promote the
use of 1:32nd scale as a medium (art form?) and to act as a source of
information regarding kits, products, books and services relevant to this
scale. To encourage manufacturers to support the scale by releasing new kits
and accessories, and in return assisting with research materials and promoting
new kits and accessories via a web site and newsletter . To combine knowledge
and produce a definitive database of 1:32nd scale kits, decals and
accessories. To act as a resource for the exchange of ideas, experiences,
kits, materials, etc. between it's members"
The group is currently affiliated to
the UK branch of the International Plastic
Modellers Society (IPMS-UK) and is open to anyone with an
interest and an e-mail address, anywhere in the world.
The following
notes about SIGs was taken from the IPMS UK Aerobatic Teams SIG - "The
idea was for members who have common interests in particular areas to be able
to contact and meet other like-minded members, and so encourages the exchange
of information, and builds expertise. To this end, SIG's exist for not only
many areas of aviation, but also cars, ships, armour, figures, science
fiction, and so on. Many modellers will realise that they are interested in
one or two particular subjects above most others, so this is what SIG's set
out to cater for. However, many modellers will also realise that their
interest in such a subject goes above and beyond the modelling aspect - it
will quite probably include historical research, photography, etc., all of
which is most welcome in a SIG."
The SIG mailing list...
The group is based around an
e-mail mailing list where members can share advice, compare notes, seek help
from fellow enthusiasts, combine research and generally talk about anything to
do with the hobby!
If you would like to join the
mailing list, please enter your e-mail address and click on the 'join'
button - then follow a simple registration procedure. You will not receive any
unsolicited e-mail (SPAM) as a result!
Feel free to
e-mail
me with any comments, or suggestions regarding the site.
Happy Modelling,
Iain Webmaster/Editor 32nd SIG
