Saso Knez

My name is Saso Knez and I
come from a country named Slovenia. That is somewhat east of New York and a
bit west of Moscow. Here you can drive from the foot of a 8000ft tall
Alpine mountain to
the sea in an hour. We have strong wine, we are good at every sport out there
and the women here are ugly. We might also lie somewhat when deemed tactically
sound.
Okay, as far as my modeling
is concerned I am very picky. I model only in the 32nd scale and only a very
particular subject. My main theme are jet from the sixties. I like everything
from a Sabre to a Phantom. Here are a few examples of what I've built and what
is currently underway.

Here is my Hasegawa F-104A.
I started with an old F-104C kit and modified it into to what now represents
the Pakistani Air Force F-104A used extensively in the 1965 and 1971 conflicts
with India. The Pakistani F-104A models were a strange mix of A model
airframes and more or less C version equipment. Therefore the conversion work
is minimum, limited only to fabricating new main wheel hubs from Milliput,
brass and plastic. You can now avoid this step by simply buying the resin
wheel hubs from Cam decals who now offers such a set.
As far as detailing is
concerned I used the Verlinden set. Unfortunately the quality of the latest
Verlinden sets is somewhat lacking and the set for the F-104 is no exception.
A lot of additional work was needed. Especially on the Vulcan bay. I also
scratchbuilt the complete wheelbay strut.

The model was finished with
Bare Metal foil and a lot of effort. I used Aeropoxy precut masks and Daco
decals stencils.

Right now I am hacking
away at the Revell Hawker Hunter with the Flightpath PE mosaic. First I built
the cockpit. The PE Flightpath PE set really came into it's own here

But the bang seat was more
or less scratchbuilt.

Then they came the
wheelbays. The nose one was completely scratchbuilt while the two main ones
were done with the help of Flightpath parts.

The main thing about the
Flightpath set are the flaps and the speed brake. A lot of work, but just
ponder the results!

I also used the Aeroclub
struts with a lot of detailing.

All that is left now is to
put the thing together and paint it. Stay tuned!!
Okay, here are a few more
shots of another of my projects that is unfortunately halted due to a lack of
reference. More about it later. Again a theme from the Indo-Pakistan air wars
of 1965 and 1971 _ the Folland Gnat F.Mk.1. You know, the plane that the Red
Arrows flew only single seat. Could dance circles around the opposing Sabres.

The projects is halted
because I lack references on the front wheel bay of the fighter versions. So
an unscrupulous plea goes out to the viewers. If anyone plans to visit either
Cosford or the example at Southhampton please drop me a line. A few more
images will get this project rolling again. My mail is
here.
