Hello my name is Paul and I am a right along with you on the big stuff.

I have been modeling for years, but only been really serious about it for about 2 years. I spent a little over 11 years in the USAF as a loadmaster on C-130 E/H & MC's so I really didn't have much time for modelling. I love building in 1/32nd scale for all the potential of really loading up on the detail. I have built several models this year and done well in local contest. I took home 1st, 2nd and best of show at the region 9 contest early this year at Fresno Ca.

I was challenged by a friend to build the RAF 74 Sqd. tiger which was all hand painted. I know that I have a long way to go to catch up with my peers, but I'm only 34 and I've got allot of modelling ahead of me. Take a look at my tiger and see what you think.

Here are some large photos of one of my last projects. This started out as a kit that I was going to take as long as it took to build it right, I took off on it to cram for a local contest due to a problem with the kit that I was originally building for this local contest. I learnt a very valuable lesson I can share openly, I learnt once again in life that patience is differently a virtue. To build a correct F-4E from the best F-4 kit on the market (in any scale) takes much more time and patience than I imagined. There was allot of everything that went into this kit, and allot of scratch building. I spent many hours on just the cockpit alone before I made the mad dash for the finish line, and production went into gear like I was at war and really needed a bomb truck bad.

Most of the conversion was from Cutting Edge except for the nose. It seemed flat from the air scoops Fwd and with the real thing it is more round, and I had to correct it due to many hrs, looking at reference material and wondering what to do. Most of the entire cockpit was scratch built with new side walls all wiring and seat rails. Eduard's PE set for the J is a must for this kit. The decals are new from CAM and provide decals to make 2 Turkish, 1 Greek and a Iranian. The instructions for the decals call to use CAMs F-4 data with this sheet and I highly recommend any CAM decal if it's F-4s your looking for. The seats are from CAM as well.

Getting the inboard slats perfectly aligned is more difficult than stated in the instructions, most phantoms very rarely have these slats extended so this is really not needed if your not up to the challenge or have some bad problems trying. This was the first E that I finished so far and I really want to take some serious time and build a life like phantom in the only scale to model in, I'll tell ya there just isn't anything else like looking at a big ass dirty phantom.
